Teachers are ....

A small child , who always sits on his mother’s lap…a little child, who knows his father is the one who will fulfill his demands….until suddenly, one day, he is taken to a place called school ! A big, tall building, full of small and big children, strange faces all over, he is shocked when his mother whispers into his ears, “Goodbye baby, it’s your school and mamma will see you in the afternoon.” Something craves inside the child when he just wants to run away from the school and cling to his mother! But there appears a smiling, calm face, “So you are my little kid. You are very sweet. Look, so many friends are waiting for you. Come on, we will play together, eat together and study together. My dear child, I am your teacher.”

“She just wiped away his tears,
Her warm hug burst him into cheers,
Her gentle touch worked such a wonder,
That took away all his fears.

True indeed - a teacher is the first person, after mother of course, who introduces the toddler to this wonderful world. She not only teaches the child, but also shapes his destiny! So many unanswered questions, so many confusions which keeps the child churning, are very easily answered by his teacher! In fact, she is such a diva, who makes the child hassle-free and makes him feel free .It is such a genuine equation, which stands there, upright and unaltered for ages.

Time has changed; now it is the era of on-line teaching. Everything is just a click away from you. Lots of information, lots of study material, this and that… everything to ensure a bright future for you is available on the Internet. But with all these sweeteners, are we really able to grow? That’s a big and relevant question! Increasing dissatisfaction among students, increasing juvenile crimes and increasing instances of deteriorating teacher-student relationship are enough to answer this question. It is a fact that something is lacking today - something which we all know of but not ready to accept. And that something is our own degradation. A carefree attitude towards everything is slowly draining away all the emotions from our lives and making us insensitive towards humanity!

Today, there is a dying need for a complete makeover - a renaissance - to revive the sole objective of life. Again, it’s time to raise your hands and pray to God, ‘Let there be light all the way, let there be kind teachers, who lend their hands to this misguided society and impart their knowledge for all-round development’. It’s not a dream, it’s an urge, it’s high time that we all gather and say thank you to those teachers who are a godsend. They not only taught us but also inculcated virtues in us!

  1. Truly agree! what we need beyond any other thing, is a bunch of loving and caring teachers. this will indeed guarantee our future more than oil, atomic energy and anything else. but what has come to our teachers? where are those lovely smiles? where is the love for teaching and preaching?
